This is a big experiment for me, but one I’ve been thinking about for quite a while. I’m not sure where to start. I want to record some of what we’re experiencing right now, preparing to move from the United States to Ireland, plus some of my writing projects. Undoubtedly some family stuff will show up, too, but I don’t want to get too personal.
It snowed again last night, but I hoping spring will show herself sometime soon, even if it’s just for a peek. I’m desperate to walk outside again, in between sorting out what we’re taking, what we’re storing, and what needs to go to Goodwill.
Today includes wrapping up my look-ups for the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness requests, and writing two articles for Suite101, getting boxes to put books in, and possibly sorting through old videotapes. Wish me luck!
This is just a test comment. Hi everyone!
How exciting! Congratulations on starting this blog, and for the adventurous spirit which allows you to go to Ireland.
I am looking forward to sharing these experiences.

Hi Jennifer:
I think that is so great that you our sticking with your weight watchers and last time I saw you I could tell that you had lost alot of weight. Also Ireland is going to be such a great opportunity for you and Blake. Moving is always such a hardship and I can’t imagine moving out of the United States, how does that even work? Good luck let me know if I can do anything for you.

I love it. Everything came through well; the picture is lovely.
Keep up the good work.
Hi Jennifer,
Since you are a writter and genealogist, I was wondering if you could help me. One of my cousins copied school records from a country school in Cavan. She died of breast cancer and never stsrted the project other than gathering the records. She was planning on transcribing them and making a booklet of them to give to the local library and heritage center.
Do you have any suggestions as to the format I should use for this project? Have you ever seen a school record book?
Thank you. Hope to hear from you,
Mary
Hi, Mary. I”ve never seen a school record book here, but if it’s filled with data such as names, dates, grades, etc., I’d use a table of some sort. A spreadsheet like Excel, or even a table in Word would work. That way it’s searchable, sortable, and can be imported into a different format for an organization to use.
If it’s text, such as articles and history, I’d just type it into a word processing program and save it as a .rtf file, which could be opened by any other word processor.
I think it’s a great idea – good luck with it!
(If anyone has any better ideas, post a reply!)
